Peer-Reviewed Results From Clinical Trials
These results are from peer-reviewed studies on the ingredients and perioperative nutrition protocols that informed Proven Recovery's formulation.
ZERO complications, ZERO revisions, ZERO readmissions at 12 months in the treatment group versus 7 complications, 3 revisions, and 4 readmissions in the control group.
Patients receiving perioperative pharmaconutrition experienced 42% shorter hospital stays and 55% fewer post-surgical infections.
Patients in the treatment group preserved 4.6 times more quadricep muscle mass than the control group in a double-blind randomized controlled trial.
Patients who received perioperative nutrition required 41% fewer narcotics post-operatively, reducing opioid dependence risk.
Every $1 invested in perioperative nutrition saves $52.63 in hospital costs. A single complication costs an average of $12,542.
The 10-Pillar Perioperative Protocol
25 medical-grade ingredients working across 10 recovery pathways. Each pillar targets a specific aspect of surgical recovery, backed by peer-reviewed clinical evidence.
Accelerated Recovery
Speeds tissue repair and reduces time to functional recovery after surgical trauma.
Wound Healing
Supports collagen synthesis and tissue regeneration at the surgical site.
Mitochondrial Protection
Preserves cellular energy production during the metabolic stress of surgery.
Neural Protection
Protects cognitive function from anesthesia-related neurological effects.
Gut-Muscle Axis
Maintains gut barrier integrity and the gut-muscle signaling pathway critical for recovery.
Infection Prevention
Strengthens immune defense when the body is most vulnerable to surgical site infections.
Circadian Realignment
Supports sleep-wake cycle restoration disrupted by anesthesia and hospital stays.
Muscle Loss Prevention
Combats the rapid muscle breakdown that occurs post-operatively.
Anti-Inflammatory
Modulates the inflammatory cascade triggered by surgical tissue damage.
Pain Reduction
Supports natural pain management pathways to reduce reliance on narcotics.
Not Supplement Entrepreneurs. Practicing Physicians.
After a decade of prescribing individual supplements to surgical patients, Dr. Desai went looking for an all-in-one solution. What he found was whey protein dressed up as surgical nutrition—citing studies their formula couldn’t deliver on. That’s when he decided to build it himself.

For years we have known that certain nutrients can improve patient outcomes after surgery, yet our current medical practices run contrary to this evidence. We fast patients before surgery and underfeed them after. We built Proven Recovery to close that gap.
Questions From Healthcare Professionals
What is the evidence base for this formula?
Proven Recovery's 25 ingredients are each supported by peer-reviewed clinical studies. The formula is built on the established benefits of immuno-nutrition (IMN)—a specific combination of amino acids and omega-3 fatty acids—which is now a consensus recommendation by the American College of Surgeons, ERAS Society, and ASPEN guidelines. The full bibliography of 100+ studies is available upon request.
Is it safe alongside my patients’ existing medications?
Proven Recovery contains amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids at therapeutic doses. There are no known drug interactions at these dosages. Patients with advanced kidney disease on low-protein diets should consult their physician before use. Not tested in pregnant or breastfeeding women. The full ingredient list and doses are available on our Supplement Facts page.
What is the recommended protocol?
One scoop (22.5g) mixed in 500mL of cold water in a glass cup, taken twice daily between meals. Ideally started 5 days before surgery and continued for 5–15 days post-operatively depending on procedure complexity. For larger procedures (total joint arthroplasty, laparotomy), an extended 20-day protocol is recommended.
How does wholesale ordering work?
After submitting an inquiry, a member of our team will contact you within 24 hours to discuss volume-based pricing for your practice. All physician and clinic partners receive complimentary 48-hour shipping. We can accommodate individual clinic orders or multi-location healthcare network arrangements.
Which surgical specialties benefit most?
The evidence for perioperative immuno-nutrition spans orthopaedics (joint arthroplasty, fracture, spine, ACL), general surgery, bariatric, oncologic, cardiac, plastic and reconstructive, and oral/maxillofacial surgery. Benefits are seen regardless of patients’ baseline nutritional status.
Can I get a copy of the full bibliography?
Yes. Submit the inquiry form above and mention in the Additional Notes that you’d like the full bibliography. We’ll send you our complete compilation of 100+ peer-reviewed studies organized by surgical specialty and individual ingredient.
